The past, present & future of Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are creating a lot of buzz. Are they simply buzz words in a hyped science fiction world or reality? AI and Machine Learning are not new: for years their application has brought about major successes to businesses around the world. Learning computers to carry out a task rather than programming them how to carry out that task step by step: distinguishing relevant mails from spam mails, detecting fraudulent credit card transactions, or recommending products to customers are just a few examples of the possibilities.

So where is the buzz coming from and more importantly, why?
It is true that recent technological advances have opened up a whole new range of advanced Machine Learning applications
, allowing computers to solve a host of complex problems that couldn't be tackled otherwise. But there is more to it than that. What are the reasons behind the increased adoption of Machine Learning in new domains like HR and Industry?

During this foyer, we will provide an answer to these questions by taking you on a journey through the past, the present and the future of Machine Learning and AI. We will share specific customer stories with you, tackling business challenges in the battle for talents, realizing operational excellence, getting true customer insights and developing innovative products and services. These stories range from talent retention, predicting electric & gas boiler breakdowns, and visualizing customer journeys, to automatically detecting illegal drugs in containers in the Port of Antwerp. They will be supported by interactive demonstrations that will give you a really good understanding of the technology at work.

As you will find out, you don’t always need the most advanced Machine Learning architectures to create business value. By combining Machine Learning with different competences and technologies in an approach tailored to the specific business context great things become possible!
